CIR: ICC decision to investigate Israeli war crimes is step forward to justice
Council on International Relations – Palestine welcomed the decision of the International Criminal Court to launch a formal inquiry into alleged crimes in the occupied Palestinian territories.
The council said, in a statement issued Thursday, that the decision is an additional step forward on the path of achieving justice for the victims of the Palestinian people and bringing the Israeli war criminals to justice.
The CIR called on the court to resist the US and Israel’s pressures and its lobbies, and not to retreat from this important step.
The chief prosecutor of the International Criminal Court said on Wednesday she launched a formal inquiry into alleged crimes in the occupied Palestinian territories.
Fatou Bensouda said in a statement the inquiry will be conducted “independently, impartially and objectively, without fear or favour”.
