CIR: AU statement thwarts Israeli attempts to penetrate global solidarity with Palestine

Council on International Relations – Palestine welcomed the statement of the 34th African Union summit condemning the continued Israeli occupation of Palestine and its crimes against the Palestinians.

The council said Tuesday the AU statement is firm evidence of the failure of Israeli attempts to penetrate African solidarity with the Palestinians and the continuation of the historical African solidarity with the Palestinian people’s struggle against the occupation.

“The statement comes at a time when some Arab countries are rushing to normalize with the occupation. All occupation attempts to gain legitimacy at the expense of the rights of our people and without ending the occupation of our lands and the return of refugees will ultimately fail”, the CIR pointed out.

At the 34th African Union (AU) Summit that was held virtually over the weekend, African leaders reaffirmed the continent’s support for the Palestinian struggle against Israeli occupation, and strongly condemned Israel’s violence against Palestinians; its construction of illegal settlements; and attempts at colonizing East Jerusalem.

CIR: US insists on falsifying history, violating international laws

Council on International Relations – Palestine (CIR) said that the United States’ allowing its Jerusalem-born to put “Israel” as passport birthplace is a flagrant violation of international laws.

In a statement issued Sunday, the CIR stated that the United States insists on falsifying history and reality, and implementing the Deal of the Century that completely wipes out the rights of the Palestinians.

“Such hostile steps against the Palestinian people will neither bring stability nor security to the region, it will instead increase tension and ignite the conflict”, the Council affirmed.

The CIR added that the American steps this time come in light of the Arab normalization agreements with the occupation state, which have increased the United States and the occupation only to further their hostility and steps aimed at liquidating the Palestinian issue.

The United States will allow US citizens born in Jerusalem to list “Israel” as their place of birth on passports and other documents, according to a new policy announced last Thursday.

CIR Confirms Right of Palestinians to Jerusalem Will not be Nullified by Occupation, its Supporters Steps

Council on International Relations – Palestine (CIR) affirmed that the right of the Palestinian people to have Jerusalem as the capital of their future independent state is their absolute right according to United Nations resolutions.

The CIR said in a statement issued Friday the measures taken by the Israeli occupation since the occupation of Jerusalem in 1967 are invalid and will not nullify the right of the Palestinian people to it.

In its statement, the Council indicated that the decisions of some countries to move their embassies to Jerusalem and recognize it as the capital of the occupation state are null decisions according to Security Council Resolution 478, calling on these countries to retreat these illegal steps.

It has been 40 years ago since the UN Security Council adopted Resolution 478 which reaffirms that the acquisition of territory by force is inadmissible.

CIR: US ditching ‘Palestinian residents’ term for Jerusalem Palestinians will never obliterate their identity

Council on International Relations – Palestine condemned the US State Department’s removal of “Palestinian residents” term for the Palestinians living in the occupied east Jerusalem.

“The US step is an attack on the Palestinian identity and blatant bias in favor of the occupation seeking to Judaize the Holy City”, the CIR said.

The council said in a statement issued Thursday that this step will not obliterate the identity of the Palestinians of Jerusalem who have lived there for centuries, and will not erase the fact that they are the original inhabitants.

“The US move comes in the context of the continuous American attempts to give legitimacy to the occupation of Jerusalem, in violation of international law and international legitimacy resolutions, which still considers Jerusalem, both east and west, occupied”, the CIR noted.

The Council said: “The American steps biased towards the Israeli occupation will not bring peace and stability to any party and will lead the region to more violence and instability.”

It called on the Palestinian residents of the city to continue to stand steadfast, the Arab and Islamic nation to continue to support the residents of Jerusalem, calling on the international community not to bow to the American steps and to take steps confirming the illegality of the US steps.

The State Department referred to Palestinians living in east Jerusalem as “Arab residents” and “non-Israeli citizens,” ditching the traditional term “Palestinian residents” in a move that continues the Trump administration’s recognition of Jerusalem as “Israel”’s capital.

CIR denounces Ukraine violation of int’l law by decision to open office in occupied Jerusalem

Council on International Relations – Palestine (CIR) denounced the Ukraine move to open a diplomatic office in the occupied Jerusalem in violation of international law and consensus.

Such a move encourages the Israeli occupation to continue its racist policies against the Palestinian people and destroy any horizon to resolve the conflict, especially after the Israeli government announced recently its intention to expand settlements and annex the West Bank, the council said in a brief statement on Saturday.

The Council called on Ukraine to reverse its decision and abide by the international consensus that refused to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of “Israel” and to open embassies or any diplomatic activities there.

The Ukrainian government announced on Friday that will open a hi-tech innovation and investment office in the occupied city of Jerusalem.

CIR slams Friedman participation in Jerusalem tunnel opening

Council for International Relations – Palestine condemned the participation of the US ambassador to “Israel” in opening an Israeli tunnel under neighborhood of Silwan in the occupied east Jerusalem.

The United States, represented by its administration and envoys in the region, continues to violate and ignore international law and UNESCO resolutions, which explicitly state the right of the Palestinian people to Jerusalem and its holy sites, the council said in a statement on Monday.

The council accused David Friedman and Jason Greenblatt, the US president’s envoy to the Middle East, of being Zionist settlers who are no different from the settlers who occupy the Palestinian territories and wreak havoc.

The Council expressed its deep regret over the silence showed by the Muslim and Arab countries. It called upon the American wise politicians and people to pressure the American administration to stop such acts, which only lead to further deterioration and instability in the region.

The CIR called on the international community and the United Nations to take effective measures to pressure the Israeli occupation to stop these American-backed excavations, which are contrary to international law and UN resolutions.

US officials attended the opening, organized by an Israeli settler-linked group in East Jerusalem on Sunday, their latest move breaking with precedent and angering Palestinians. White House Adviser Jason Greenblatt and US Ambassador to Israel David Friedman were among the US officials present at the event.

CIR: Israeli plans to close UNRWA schools in occupied Jerusalem prelude to new Nakba

Council of International Relations – Palestine (CIR) warned of the Israeli occupation plan to close the schools of UNRWA in Jerusalem.

The council said in a statement issued on Monday that the cuts and closures of the agency pave the way to a new Nakba for the Palestinian people, who are waiting to return to the homes from which they were expelled.

“The General Assembly of the United Nations accepted the membership of “Israel” on the condition of the establishment of a Palestinian state and the return of Palestinian refugees. Until such conditions are met, UNRWA is mandated by the international community to care for refugees and to protect them.”, the Council noted.

The CIR stressed that any infringement to this concept is an infringement to the legitimacy Israeli claims its existence is based on.

In its statement, the Council said that it expects the international community, particularly the General Assembly of the United Nations and UNRWA, to squarely confront Israeli intentions to withdraw UNRWA school licenses in Jerusalem, warning at the same time of ethnic cleansing affecting the Palestinian people, thereby fostering instability in the region.

Israeli media reported that the state’s National Security Council will revoke permits allowing UNRWA schools to operate starting next school year. The schools will be replaced by schools run by the Jerusalem municipality, supported by Israel’s education ministry.

CIR: Bolton visit to Jerusalem will not legitimize its occupation

Council on International Relations – Palestine denounced the visit of US national security adviser John Bolton to Jerusalem, considering it an attempt to legitimize its decades-old occupation.

The council said in a statement on Monday that Bolton’s visit to the Western Wall and tunnels under the Al-Aqsa Mosque was to encourage and legitimize the plans of the Israeli occupation aimed at demolishing Al-Aqsa Mosque, warning of dire consequences.

“The visit contravenes international law and is a clear indication of the continuation of the American policy, which is biased to the Israeli occupation and is in violation of international norms and laws”, the CIR said.

The Council pointed out that Trump’s policy only leads to greater tension and instability in the region, stressing that his policy will not push the Palestinian people to relinquish their legitimate rights, especially their right to Jerusalem as the capital of the Palestinian state.

The CIR called on the international community to take practical steps to address this policy, and pressure the US administration to retreat from its destructive policy in the region.

The President of the US National Council John Bolton visited “Israel” on Sunday and arrived at the scene opposite Al Buraq Wall, which is located on the ruins of “The Moroccan Quarter,” and also visited the tunnels along Al Buraq Wall and the Old Town.

CIR: Celebrating the world with this day requires more solidarity, support for our people

Statement by Council on International Relations on the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People

CIR: Celebrating the world with this day requires more solidarity and support for our people

On 29 November of each year, the world celebrates the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People in accordance with the resolution adopted by the General Assembly of the United Nations in 1977.

As we pass through this day, our Palestinian people continue to live under the Israeli occupation, which diversities its criminal policies that target everything related to the rights of our people, foremost of which is their right to live in dignity on their national soil and their independent state.

The seventy years since the establishment of the Israeli occupation state on the soil of Palestine and the expulsion of our people from their villages and cities and obliterating everything that is related to their existence was not enough for the world to move and take measures to do justice to this oppressed people and restore some of their rights, primarily an independent state with Jerusalem as its capital, as recognized by international legitimacy.

Therefore, the celebration of the world on this day requires more solidarity and support for the causes of our people and their continuous struggle to achieve their rights, not less than to condemn the policies of the occupation and its actions against our people, and to carry out boycott campaign of everything related to him at all political, cultural, economic and diplomatic levels. Moving the embassies of countries to the holy city of Jerusalem should be condemned as well as the crimes of the occupation against the population in the city, the most recent decision to deport more than 700 citizens of Jerusalem from their homes on the pretext of possession by Israeli institutions, not to mention what is happening in Al Khan Al Ahmar and not far from the crimes of the occupation against the people in the Gaza Strip through the destructive war machine.

We, in the Council, hope that the positions of these countries will be strengthened to form a unity of a pressing position on the occupation in all international forums, especially the United Nations and its organs, the UN Security Council and the International Criminal Court in particular until a clear message is sent to the occupation that its criminal policies are no longer unknown to anyone, and its falsification of the facts will not be useful in changing the right to nullity, and sooner or later the right holders of Palestine will have their rights.

On this occasion, we condemn some juggling in the normalization of relations between some governments in the Arab region and the state of the Israeli occupation, with the knowledge of the reality of the popular position in these countries, which we cherish and consider as the true position of the nation. We call on the vital forces of our Arab and Islamic nation to express their positions on what is happening and condemn this strange behavior of our nation. In the same context, we highly appreciate the positions of countries that refused to deal with the infiltration attempts by the occupation and demand more steadfastness on the road to support our people and cause.

CIR deplores international silence over Israeli crimes in Khan AlAhmar

Council on International Relations (CIR) depolored the international silence over the Israeli violations in the village of Al Khan Al Ahmar, east of the occupied Jerusalem.
The Council said in a statement issued on Sunday that what the occupation’s actions is a continuation of the crime of ethnic cleansing practiced against the Palestinian people for decades.
The CIR pointed out that the current international silence encourages the occupation to commit more of these crimes, which aim to remove the Palestinians and annex their lands to the lands of the settlements illegally built in accordance with international law.
The Council called on the international community to pressure the occupying state to stop this crime and to work hard to end the occupation completely from the Palestinian territories and to implement the international agreements that call for it.
In its statement, the Council thanked the efforts of some diplomats and the courage of some MPs who addressed this crime, stressing that it is just shy voices that do not measure up to this great crime.
Khan al-Ahmar is a Palestinian village in the occupied Jerusalem. In 2018, there were 173 Bedouin, including 92 children, living there in tents and huts with its local school serving the needs of 150 children in the area.
Khan al-Ahmar is located between the Israeli settlements of Ma’ale Adumim and Kfar Adumim. In May 2018, the Israeli High Court of Justice determined that its residents could be evicted
