CIR welcomes resolutions of UNHRC on Palestine

Council on International Relations – Palestine welcomed the resolutions adopted by the United Nations Human Rights Council condemning Israeli violations and practices in the occupied Palestinian and Arab territories.

The Council said in a statement issued on Saturday that these decisions come at a time the Israeli occupation continues its violations against the Palestinians supported by the US administration, which is blatantly biased towards the occupation.

In its statement, the CIR thanked the Member States that voted in favor of those resolutions and stood by the rights of the Palestinian people.

At the same time, the Council called upon those countries that voted against the resolutions, including those that abstained from voting, to review their positions which encourage the occupation to continue its crimes against the Palestinian people and protect it from accountability in international forums.

United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) in its meeting held in Geneva on Friday approved five resolutions submitted by the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) on Palestine with a majority of votes.

CIR holds meeting about transformation of India’s positions towards Palestinian issue

Council on International Relations – Palestine held a dialogue meeting about the reasons behind transformation of India’s positions towards Palestinian issue Tuesday morning in Gaza City.

The council hosted Mr. Feroze Mithiborwala, the Founder General Secretary of the India Palestine Solidarity Forum, who spoke from Mumbai, India.

Feroze spoke about the far-right alliance between BJP and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, which is part of the trend in the Middle East region where the Gulf Monarchies and certain right-wing Islamic parties are allied with Israel.

Speaking of the history of the relationship between Palestine and India, Mithiborwala said that the relations go back to before India’s independence in 1947, pointing out that India has always voted for Palestine. But the dramatic change in Indian politics began in 1990 when the Soviet Union collapsed. That time, India began to move toward America and Israel and sought to reorganize its strategic relations in order to find a place in the map of the New World order.

Later, Israel took advantage of the singing of the Oslo Accords to improve its relations with several countries including India, he added.

Feroze pointed out that one of the most important factor between India and “Israel” is the issue of Kashmir exploited by the Americans and “Israel” to engage deeply in the Indian Peninsula. He thus stressed on the need for governments and peoples in India and Pakistan to reach a solution to the Kashmir issue because many put the issues of Palestine and Kashmir In the same box, and what is required is the separation between both. The issue of Palestine and Kashmir are very different in their genesis andd their political solutions are also very different.

“Israel” is the last to “help” India to resolve the issue of Kashmir, as an occupying state that practices persecution against the Palestinian people, he said.

On Netanyahu’s recent visit to India, large demonstrations were held across the country, calling for NETANYAHU TO GO BACK!

Turning to the solutions, Feroze said that India is required first to build a strong movement within India on the issue of Palestine because the freedom of the World is linked to the freedom of Palestine.

Secondly, launching a boycott movement against “Israel” similar to the boycott movement in the world. Thirdly, communicating with Bollywood because of its importance in the Arab world as well as working at the level of Asian countries to unite to support the Palestinian cause.

As for the Palestinian, Feroze pointed out that the Palestinian forces and parties are required to interact more with the Indian people and to bring more Palestinians to India to talk about their struggle and their suffering.

He called on the Palestinian Authority and the Palestinian embassy in India to play a more active role and to communicate more with the Indian government, parties and social movements.

CIR condemns Israeli attack against Dutch minister ” Sigrid Kaag” for supporting UNRWA

Council on International Relations – Palestine condemned the fierce criticism Minister for Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation of the Netherlands, Sigrid Kaag faces from figures that support the Israeli occupation.

The criticism came after the minister ” Kaag ” funded UNRWA with 13 million euros to help it after the US decision of reducing the Agency’s financial assistance.

The Council said in a statement issued on Sunday that this attack indicates the Israeli policy aimed at annihilating the  Palestinian refugees issue by cutting off support for them and the institutions that support them.

The CIR thanked the Minister for her supportive attitude towards the Palestinians, her great step in rejecting the American decision against UNRWA and the insistence on providing financial assistance to UNRWA.

The Council called on all countries to stand by the Palestinian refugees and support them to avoid the annihilation of one of the issues that could threaten peace in the region and affect the rights of the Palestinian people guaranteed by international law.

CIR denounce US for withdrawing Jerusalem from negotiations and blackmailing Palestinians financially

Council on International Relations – Palestine denounced the dangerous statement made by US President Donald Trump in which he withdrew the issue of Jerusalem from the negotiating table as a settled issue that is not subject to discussion.

“What would remain on the table if the most serious issue, the Jerusalem issue, was withdrawn” the council wondered in a press release issued on Wednesday.

In a related vein, the Council described the threat of the US President to cut off aid to the Palestinian people as “political blackmail” that shows how ignorant he is of the peoples’ struggles for freedom.

The Council said that this threat is clearly aimed at pushing the Palestinian people to relinquish their legitimate rights, which have been recognized by international law and resolutions.

The Council noted that the aid provided by the international community to the Palestinian people through UNRWA would not compensate for the suffering of the Palestinian refugees caused by the unjust Israeli occupation.

The CIR called on the international community to stand firmly against Trump’s reckless policy, which leads the region towards the unknown, calling on the Palestinian Authority to take bold positions and respond to these policies with greater adherence to the Palestinian constants.

CIR: US actions in international forums blackmail to international community

Council on International Relations – Palestine described the actions of the US and its threat to the Member States of the United Nations General Assembly as blackmail to the international community.

The council said in a statement issued Thursday that the exchange of political positions in return for financial support undermines the role of the international community in supporting the vulnerable and standing up to unjust countries.

The Council called on the UN General Assembly to refrain from responding to these threats and challenge them by voting against the Trump Jerusalem move.

The CIR called on the international community and the Palestinian Authority to consider the United States as an unfair broker in the peace process in the Middle East and to boycott its officials to pressure them to back down from positions that are biased to the Israeli occupation state.

US Ambassador to the United Nations Nicky Healy warned United Nations members that they would “take the names” of those countries that vote to reject Donald Trump’s recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel in an effort to influence their voices toward the will of the United States.

Donald Trump has threatened to withhold “billions” of dollars of US aid from countries which vote in favour of a United Nations resolution rejecting the US president’s recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of “Israel”.

CIR: On International Human Rights Day, Israel continues to deprive Palestinian people of their rights

Council on International Relations – Palestine said that the Israeli occupation continues to violate Palestinian human rights and deprive them of the basic necessities of life.

In a statement issued Sunday, the Council noted that the Israeli occupation continues to deprive millions of Palestinians around the world of returning to their homes they were displaced from for decades, as Palestinians living in diaspora are about 70% of the whole Palestinian people.

As a result of discriminatory policies implemented by Israel against Palestinian citizens, the Palestinian people suffer from violations of their rights of life, housing, property, and not to be subjected to torture, cruel punishment or inhuman and degrading treatment. The occupation also deprives them of freedom of movement, their right to return to their homeland and their right to seek justice for the harm done to them.

The denial of the Palestinians’ right to self-determination lies at the top of these violations, the council added.

The CIR said that it is no longer possible to allow Israel to continue to commit systematic violations of Palestinian human rights.

While the international community is celebrating the International Day of Human Rights, the Council called on the UN Member States to honor their pledge ‘in cooperation with the United Nations to ensure the promotion of universal respect for and observance of human rights and fundamental freedoms’, as stated in the Universal Declaration, noting that the occupation will continue to violate the Palestinian human rights as long as it has the ability to act as a state above the law.

On December 10 this year, the world celebrates the 69th anniversary of World Human Rights Day as part of the celebration of the adoption of the Universal Declaration by the General Assembly of the United Nations.

CIR: Moving US embassy to Jerusalem dangerous, violate international law

Council on International relations-Palestine described the intention of the US to move its embassy to Jerusalem as dangerous and violates the International law.

In a press release, The council said that the American decision pours gas to the flames in the region, and pushes it to more deterioration . The decision violates the international law that considers Jerusalem as an occupied city and it violates as well UNESCO’s resolution that states no Jewish ties with Jerusalem.

The council noted that the American Decision proves that the US is not an honest broker to solve the conflict in the region, demanding the international community to take the lead and to rein the Israeli occupation on continuing its aggression and make it accept the Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital.

The CIR appreciates the UN General Assembly that reiterated that any actions by “Israel”, the occupying Power, to impose its laws, jurisdiction and administration on the Holy City of Jerusalem were illegal and therefore null and void.

CIR condemns denying Swiss officials entry to Gaza by Israeli occupation

Council on International relational – Palestine condemned Saturday the Israeli occupation for denying the Swiss officials entry to the Gaza Strip.

In a press release, the council said the step doubles the current siege imposed on the Gaza Strip and is a blatant violation to the Palestinian people’s rights of communicating with the outside world.

The CIR called on the international community to stand strongly against these Israeli apartheid policies. ” we demand the free world to face such decisions by taking more steps to break the siege and doubling the delegates that visit the Gaza Strip”, the council added.

Israeli occupation has banned Swiss officials from entering the Gaza Strip following a series of meetings between representatives of the European country and Gaza leaders.

CIR condemns Guterres for ignoring Gaza during his visit to region

Council on International relations – Palestine condemned the UN Secretary-General António Guterres for ignoring the people of Gaza Strip who suffer under the siege the Israeli occupation imposes for over 11 years.

The CIR said, in a press release Wednesday, that this ignoring from the head of the international diplomacy is considered contrary to all the principles and objectives for which the United Nations was established.

The council denounced the blatant bias Guterres showed during his visit that included several Israeli sectors while he had enough visiting Gaza for a few hours without seeing the scale of the disaster the Israeli occupation caused.

The CIR called on the Secretary-General to truly visit the Gaza Strip and see the harsh humanitarian circumstances and meet with families of the Palestinian detainees in the Israeli jails, patients deprived of travelling to receive medical treatment, owners of destroyed houses and victims of the Israeli assaults and siege.

On Tuesday, The Secretary-General launched his first official visit to the region and aimed to find “a long overdue peaceful resolution to the conflict”.
