CIR welcomes British politicians letter, calls on all countries to stand firm against Israeli crimes

Council on International Relations – Palestine (CIR) welcomed the letter of 130 British politicians to Prime Minister Boris Johnson in which they called for imposing tough sanctions on “Israel” if it annexed territories in the West Bank.

The CIR said in a statement issued Saturday the message expresses a courageous stance of the politicians who stand beside international laws and United Nations resolutions, which explicitly reject continued Israeli crimes.

The Council called on all countries to stand firmly in the face of the Israeli annexation plan supported by the current American administration within the framework of the so-called deal of the century that will inevitably lead to disruption of stability and security in the region and internationally, and will end any opportunity for a political solution to the conflict.

130 British politicians have written to Prime Minister Boris Johnson urging the government to warn Israel annexation of occupied Palestinian territory could lead to the imposition of sanctions.

“government must now make clear publicly to Israel that any annexation will have severe consequences including sanctions. Words are not enough”, the politicians said in the letter.
